Moroccan National Expert Committee (NEC) strengthens vision for demand-side flexibility
The second meeting of the MENALINKS National Expert Committee (NEC) in Morocco was held on 4 June at the IRESEN - Institut de Recherche en Énergie Solaire et Énergies Nouvelles in Rabat, bringing together representatives from key national institutions and project partners to advance a shared vision for demand-side flexibility in Morocco.
The session was chaired by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development - Kingdom of Morocco, in its capacity as the project’s political partner and Chair of the National Expert Committee, with support and coordination provided by IRESEN, the local implementing partner and organiser of the event.
The committee included representatives from the following national institutions:
- Ministry of the Interior of Morocco
- ANRE - Autorité Nationale de Régulation de l'Électricité
- Agence Marocaine pour l’Efficacité Énergétique (AMEE)
- Société Régionale Multiservices SRM Marrakech - Safi
- Masen
- Green Energy Park
The discussions were further enriched by the participation of MENALINKS project experts from Guidehouse, Elia Grid International, Fraunhofer ISI, and Fraunhofer IEG. As a result, the second meeting of the National Expert Committee helped to:
- reaffirm and strengthen the NEC governance as the central framework for national dialogue, and coordination and validation of MENALINKS deliverables;
- present progress across the project’s regulatory, technical, and capacity-building workstreams;
- share the findings of the report MENALINKS Vision for Demand-Side Flexibility in Morocco;
- gather feedback, guidance, and recommendations from committee members to inform the project’s ongoing work and upcoming activities
Beyond the project’s technical deliverables, the session served as a valuable platform for co-creation and strategic alignment, demonstrating the strong commitment of national institutions and international technical partners to advancing demand-side flexibility in Morocco.
