Battery Storage Investment Forum
Location: Sheraton Hotel
Date: 25 June 2026
Driving investment in grid flexibility and battery storage
The Türkiye Investment Forum brings together international and domestic investors, lenders and project developers to discuss the growth of BESS and the role of storage in supporting power system flexibility, security of supply and renewable energy integration.
The event is by invitation-only and designed as a focused platform for dialogue between capital providers, utilities and IPPs who active in the development, financing and operation of BESS projects.

Türkiye is entering a rapid build‑out phase for battery energy storage, driven by rising renewable penetration, evolving market arrangements and growing interest from both domestic and international investors. At the same time, while the project pipeline is substantial (around 34 GW), only a limited number of projects have reached bankable maturity due to ongoing market and financing structuring.
The Investment Forum aims to:
Provide investors with a clear and structured overview of Türkiye’s BESS market
Present current projects and typical investment configurations
Facilitate direct exchanges between investors, lenders, energy companies and project developers
Discuss key risks, mitigation approaches and lessons learned
Identify potential investment partnerships and co-investment opportunities
Enable early-stage deal discussions and pipeline screening
The format combines market briefings with panel discussions and targeted investor–developer dialogue, enabling participants to engage on both strategic and transaction‑level topics.
The BESS market in Türkiye: background for investors
Türkiye aims for 120 GW of wind and solar capacity by 2035, more than tripling current levels, driven by its climate and energy goals. This requires significant investment in generation, flexibility, and grid infrastructure.
Türkiye has a semi-liberalised electricity market with competitive generation, wholesale trading, markets for ancillary services and balancing. Rapid growth in wind and solar capacity has increased the need for short- and medium-term flexibility. To support this, Türkiye introduced the Regulation on Storage Activities in the Electricity Market, providing the legal basis for licensing, grid connection, and market participation of storage assets.
By the end of 2025, around 33 GW of battery‑integrated renewable projects had received pre‑licences, making Türkiye one of the largest BESS pipeline markets in Europe.
From an investment perspective, the market is characterised by:
Strong underlying demand for flexibility services
Strong political attention and support
A developing regulatory framework providing increasing clarity for storage investments
Emerging revenue models combining wholesale markets, balancing services and potential future capacity mechanisms
A growing pool of experienced local developers and operators
Who attends:
The forum is designed for stakeholders actively participating or evaluating opportunities in Türkiye’s BESS market, including:
Turkish and international project developers
Market and grid specialists with a focus on flexibility solutions
Equity investors and infrastructure funds
Commercial banks and international financial institutions
Participation is limited to invited organisations to allow for targeted discussion and meaningful exchange.
About the organisers
EDEDER is the Turkish Energy Storage Industries Association, representing companies active across the energy storage value chain in Türkiye. The association plays a central role in market development, regulatory dialogue and knowledge sharing related to battery storage.
MENALINKS is a regional programme driving the smart energy transition in Türkiye, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan. By promoting sector coupling, smart grid innovation, and system flexibility, MENALINKS supports the integration of renewable energy to help partner countries meet their national climate goals.
