MENALINKS and Al Hussein Technical University unite to strengthen Jordan's renewable energy workforce

The MENALINKS programme is pleased to announce a new academic partnership with Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) in Amman, Jordan. This marks the next cooperation agreement under the university collaboration initiative led by Renewables Academy (RENAC), aiming to enhance renewable energy education and technical capacity building across the MENA region.

Developing workforce skills for a sustainable energy future

Universities are crucial for preparing future professionals in an evolving energy landscape. By embedding RENAC’s specialised eLearning modules into academic curricula, MENALINKS supports the development of technically skilled graduates ready to implement advanced energy solutions—in particular smart grids, sector coupling, and flexibility mechanisms, which are increasingly important as Jordan’s grid integrates more solar and wind.

This cooperation bridges theoretical education and practical application. HTU students gain hands-on experience with industry-relevant tools and concepts, empowering them to directly support the country’s renewable integration, grid stability, and industrial flexibility initiatives.

Supporting Jordan’s renewable energy ambitions

Al Hussein Technical University was selected for its strong foundation in applied engineering and its proven expertise in digital learning, especially through the HTU-X online platform and track record in industry collaboration. The university’s commitment to curriculum development, capacity building, and flexible learning makes it an ideal partner for MENALINKS’ training initiative.

This partnership aligns with Jordan’s national energy objectives, including expanding renewable energy generation beyond 25% of total generation, modernising grid infrastructure, and fostering skills for the new energy economy. By supporting academic institutions with targeted training, MENALINKS contributes to the country’s efforts to build a resilient and sustainable energy sector, while also advancing industrial flexibility, cost optimisation, and new "green jobs".

MENALINKS’ regional university network

The partnership with HTU complements MENALINKS’ broader initiative to collaborate with leading universities in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, and Türkiye. Together, these institutions form a regional network committed to advancing clean energy education, practical innovation, and technical excellence in support of the energy transition and climate goals.
