MENALINKS and University Mohammed VI Polytechnic drive Morocco’s clean energy future

The MENALINKS programme is pleased to announce its academic partnership with University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) in Morocco. This marks the fourth cooperation agreement under the university collaboration initiative led by MENALINKS’ consortium partner, the Renewables Academy (RENAC), completing MENALINKS’s network of academic institutions dedicated to advancing knowledge on renewable energy integration and smart grid capabilities across the MENA region.

Empowering students for Morocco’s energy transition

Universities are at the centre of preparing tomorrow's innovators for the challenges of sustainable energy. As part of this collaboration, RENAC’s eLearning modules will be integrated into UM6P’s Green Tech Institute and Green Energy Park educational pathways. MENALINKS leverages digital learning to deliver practical skills and applied knowledge in renewable energies, green hydrogen, smart grids, and energy storage—ensuring students can contribute effectively to Morocco’s decarbonisation goals.

Through advanced research and hands-on projects, UM6P supports a new generation of experts who are ready to implement technological solutions in Morocco’s fast-growing solar, wind, and hydrogen industries. The collaboration brings together academic rigor and technological innovation, strengthening workforce capacities needed for Morocco’s ambition to power Africa’s green transition.

Supporting Morocco’s climate and innovation agenda

UM6P was selected for its leadership in research and its commitment to sustainable development, exemplified by its work at the Green Tech Institute and Green Energy Park. The university’s multidisciplinary approach and network with industry stakeholders position it as a frontrunner in energy innovation, digital training, and applied sciences. This partnership boosts Morocco’s efforts to expand renewable energy generation and energy sector coupling, while fostering research excellence and entrepreneurship.

By equipping UM6P students with advanced sector knowledge, MENALINKS contributes to a resilient national workforce capable of driving Morocco’s climate targets and supporting new industries across North and West Africa.

MENALINKS’ regional university network

The partnership with UM6P completes MENALINKS’ initiative to work with leading universities in Türkiye, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco. These academic institutions collectively advance technical innovation, clean energy integration, and regional skills development to support the energy transition and shared climate objectives.

MENALINKS invites stakeholders from academia, energy, and climate sectors to engage with the programme and explore opportunities for collaboration. For more information, please reach out directly.
