MENALINKS expands academic partnerships: British University in Egypt joins MENALINKS network

MENALINKS is proud to announce its second academic cooperation agreement as part of its capacity building work. The new partnership  with the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering (FEEE) at the  British University in Egypt (BUE) marks another milestone in MENALINKS’ mission to strengthen capacities around renewable energy integration and smart grids across the MENA region.

Under the agreement, FEEE will integrate MENALINKS partner RENAC’s digital training courses into its engineering curriculum, offering students access to high-quality e-learning content. These courses cover key topics such as renewable energy technologies, smart grids, and sector coupling, and are designed to prepare students for careers in the rapidly evolving energy sector.

Building capacity for Egypt’s energy transition

The partnership with FEEE supports MENALINKS’ efforts to accelerate renewable energy integration and sector coupling in Egypt. Egypt is one of five partner countries of the MENALINKS programme, which is working closely with national stakeholders such as the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy (MoERE), and EgyptERA to strengthen regulatory and technical framework conditions for flexibility and renewables integration.

The partnership with FEEE is the second of five university collaborations initiated within the MENALINKS programme. Similar agreements have been finalised with institutions in Tunisia, Jordan, Türkiye, and Morocco. These partnerships within MENALINKS will collectively support the creation of a regional knowledge base and foster cross-regional cooperation in renewable energy education.

MENALINKS invites stakeholders from academia, energy, and climate sectors to engage with the programme and explore opportunities for collaboration. For more information, please reach out directly.
