MENALINKS Launches the Finance Advisory Group

On May 7th 2026 the MENALINKS programme has officially launched the Finance Advisory Group with a highly successful inaugural meeting. The invitation-only group of financial sector experts will convene twice a year to provide strategic guidance on the activities of the MENALINKS programme, in particular the finance workstream, and the bankability of MENALINKS focus area solutions. As a platform for mutual exchange, it will keep financial partners informed about latest developments within MENALINKS and across the MENA region, ensuring that MENALINKS activities remain aligned with investor needs and market realities.

The board’s objectives include:

  • Providing feedback and strengthening the link between MENALINKS’ technical workstreams and the real-world requirements of financiers and investors;

  • Sharing updates on forthcoming regulatory changes and emerging business models within the MENALINKS scope (e.g., smart mini-grids, utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), industrial and commercial flexibility);

  • Sharing insights on best practices and financial mechanisms applied across MENA markets;

  • Enabling inputs from technological partners and innovators whose solutions may lead to new investments opportunities;

The first meeting introduced members to MENALINKS activities and explored how the group can best support the programme’s priorities and future direction.

Participating institutions include:

  • World Bank

  • IsDB

  • Al Baraka Bank Egypt

  • Bank of Africa

  • RCREEE
