RE-PtX virtual classrooms connect participant assignments with expert input on Power-to-X and BESS
As part of the MENALINKS Renewable Energy and Power-to-X (RE-PtX) e-learning programme, two recent virtual classrooms brought together participants, consortium partners, invited stakeholders, and experts for exchange on Power-to-X (PtX) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The sessions complemented the self-paced online courses with live presentations, technical discussion, and applied perspectives relevant to industrial decarbonisation and energy transition planning.
Participant presentations on Power-to-X pathways
The first virtual classroom focused on selected group assignments developed within the RE-PtX e-learning programme. Participants from from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Türkiye and, Tunisia presented their analysis of PtX pathways. Presentations covered implications for industrial energy transition, and short explanations of the methodologies used to validate findings with artificial intelligence tools. The session also created space for discussion with fellow professionals, instructors, consortium partners, and invited stakeholders on how such analytical results can inform broader thinking on PtX development and industrial decarbonisation.
Expert exchange on Battery Energy Storage Systems
A second, additional virtual classroom was dedicated to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The discussion addressed key aspects of BESS, including market segments, revenue fundamentals, applications, and related technical and economic considerations. The session provided participants with an opportunity to deepen course-based knowledge through direct exchange with experts and questions from the audience.
Contribution to the training approach
Together, the two virtual classrooms illustrated how the RE-PtX e-learning programme combines self-paced digital learning, group-based assignments, and live expert interaction. This format supports knowledge transfer by linking theoretical content with practical discussion and peer exchange. By bringing together participant analysis and expert perspectives, the two virtual classrooms contributed to a broader understanding of PtX and BESS within the MENALINKS training framework. Further programme activities will continue to build on this combination of online learning and interactive exchange.
