Strengthening renewable energy education in Türkiye: MENALINKS partners with Yaşar University

The MENALINKS programme is pleased to announce a new academic partnership with Yaşar University in Izmir, Türkiye. This marks the third cooperation agreement signed under MENALINKS’ university collaboration initiative, led by Renewables Academy (RENAC), aiming to enhance renewable energy education and capacity building across the MENA region.

Through this partnership , Yaşar University will integrate eLearning courses developed by RENAC into its Energy Systems Engineering Programme. These courses offer students direct access to high-quality digital training materials, equipping them with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to contribute to the energy transition. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to preparing the next generation of energy professionals for the challenges and opportunities of sector coupling and grid integration.

Building technical capacity for the energy transition

Universities play a critical role in preparing future professionals to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving energy landscape. By embedding RENAC’s specialised eLearning modules into academic curricula, MENALINKS supports the development of a technically skilled workforce capable of implementing advanced energy solutions such as smart grids, electric mobility, and Power-to-X technologies.

This collaboration also helps bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical application. Students will gain hands-on experience with industry-relevant tools and concepts, enhancing their readiness to contribute to national and regional energy strategies.

Strategic alignment with Türkiye’s energy goals

Yaşar University was selected for its strong academic foundation in energy systems and its proven experience with digital learning platforms. The institution demonstrated a clear commitment to curriculum development and capacity building, making it an ideal partner for MENALINKS’ training initiative.

This partnership aligns with Türkiye’s broader energy objectives, which include expanding renewable energy capacity, modernising grid infrastructure, and fostering regional cooperation. By supporting academic institutions in delivering targeted training, MENALINKS contributes to the country’s efforts to build a resilient and sustainable energy sector.

The partnership with Yaşar University is part of a wider MENALINKS initiative to collaborate with universities in its partner countries Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, and Türkiye.  These partnerships aim to create a network of regional academic institutions committed to advancing clean energy education and innovation.
