Isabelle Gerkens is the Head of the Electricity Market & Regulation Department at EGI in the Elia Group (as a subsidiary of two major European TSOs). She holds several LLMs in law and used to work as a lawyer, compliance officer, regulatory expert, and senior market expert. She has more than 24 years of experience in legal, contractual, and regulatory aspects of the power sector as well as opening electricity markets to competition. Isabelle was responsible for several regulatory aspects of the power market: third-party access to the grid, grid development plans, regulated transmission agreements, tariffs and wheeling charges issues, RES integration, congestion management, data management, power exchange, relations with regulatory authorities. She is also an expert in designing market mechanisms TSOs use related to balancing and ancillary services markets, flexibility, connection, and access. Isabelle is experienced in drafting grid codes
