Passionate about energy-transition R&D, with expertise in energy storage, efficiency, green hydrogen, renewables, and innovation funding as a PhD electrical engineer and technical expert

Short Bio

  • Soukaina Boudoudouh received the Engineering Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard, France, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Mohammadia School of Engineers, Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco. She later completed a postdoctoral fellowship on polymorphic energy storage integrating batteries and supercapacitors.
Her research interests include smart grids, railway electrical systems, energy efficiency, and energy management, with strong expertise in industrial decarbonization, energy storage lifetime assessment, and renewable energy integration, particularly within railway networks and large solar farms. She has also worked as a consultant and technical expert for various companies on advanced energy management solutions.
  • She has delivered training on ISO 50001 and ISO 50002, carbon accounting, and product carbon footprint, and has taught industrial energy efficiency to both professionals and master's students.
Soukaina has developed a patented lifetime calculation tool dedicated to cyclic lifetime systems such as batteries, accumulators, and electrolyzers.
  • She joined IRESEN (Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies) as a postdoctoral researcher, later becoming Technical Manager of R&D and Innovation Programs, where she evaluated and monitored R&D projects funded by the institute. She is currently Head of the R&D and Innovation Programs Department, leading strategic initiatives to foster innovation, support green technology deployment, and strengthen Morocco’s positioning in energy-transition research.
  • She also represents Morocco on the Executive Committee of the IEA PVPS (Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme) and has contributed to national efforts in energy and economic data collection and analysis, including collaborations with the IEA and initiatives such as NCAP. She continues to be actively involved in the development of innovative solutions.

Selected Accomplishments

  • Patent real time battery life cycle calculator
  • Innov IDEA Award
  • I contributed to the IEA report Clean Energy Innovation Policies in Emerging and Developing Economies as a national expert representing Morocco. My work helped document Morocco’s renewable-energy and innovation ecosystem, highlighting national policies, institutional frameworks, and innovation capacities. Through this contribution, I helped illustrate how Morocco is developing clean-energy technologies, supporting research and deployment, and promoting green innovation systems in a developing-economy context.

What I'd like to collaborate on

  • I am seeking guidance from established experts (as a potential mentee) to help me scale up and bring my innovative solution to market (national and international market)
  • I am willing to support others with advice or am already a Mentor (potential Mentor): Startup, Research, Advocacy, Mentoring
